The remains of a number of burial tombs, known locally as quoits, can be found in the far West of Cornwall. They date to about 5,000 years ago and consist of several upright slabs which a massive capstone forming the roof. They were originally covered by mounds of earth and stone. With the Mulfra quoit the capstone has slipped probably because at sometime in the past one of the side stones has been removed. On the horizon can been seen the remains of the engine house which belonged to the Ding Dong mine.
