Newlyn Harbour
Newlyn Harbour was built in the
1880s. In terms of the value of fish landed, it is now one
of the largest fishing ports in Great Britain although some 90%
of the fish is exported. Next to the lighthouse at the end of the
pier is the Ordnance Surveys tidal observatory and it is
from here that all heights above sea level are calculated for the
whole of Great Britain.
