1837-1901

The registration of births, deaths and marriages started in England and Wales in 1837. The list below is taken from the index at the General Register Office and is an attempt to identify all entries for Goninan (however spelt) from 1837 to 1901.
100% accuracy is not guaranteed and there could be some entries missed.
Other information has been added to the basic index entry where this is available

page 1 1837-1849
page 2 1850-1859
page 3 1860-1869
page 4 1870-1879
page 5 1880-1889
page6 1890-1901
  notes
1 entries relate to the Goninan surname only, i.e. it does not include the families of
married Goninan daughters - more research needs to be done to complete the picture

2 the registration district covers a number of towns and villages. For example,
Camborne, Gwithian and Gwinear came under Redruth. Similarly, St Just came under
Penzance

3 the registration index is in quarters thus 'qtr' indicates the quarter ending with that
month; e.g quarter ended Sept. means the event was registered in July, August or
September

4 b = birth.....m = marriage......d = death
5 additional information has been added:-
  a) where the identity of the individual is fairly certain, the parents are shown
  b) if the spelling of the surname recorded was not Goninan, then this is noted -
there was clearly a lot of confusion amongst Registrars as to how to spell the name

  c) where other detail is known (eg date of birth, place of marriage) this is included
6 bpt = baptised and brd = buried
7 br- this shows the family branch to which the individual belongs - G= Gwithian,
H= Helston, S= St Just and P= Perranuthnoe
