St Just Branch

The first part of the St Just branch family tree is the same as for the Gwithian branch:-
Richard, son of Edward and Annie (baptised 1707) married Ann Rawlings at St Just Parish Church on the 6th July 1733.
They had eight children and they were all baptised at St Just except their son Richard who was baptised at Helston. The children and baptism dates are as follows:-
Mary 28th April 1734; Elizabeth 12th Oct 1735; Richard 7th Aug 1737; John 10th May 1741; Edward 6th Jan 1749; Ann 27th March 1752; Peter 19th Aug 1756 and William on the same day.

   
  St Just Church  

The St Just branch continues with Richard. He married Ann McLean at Madron Church on the 1st Feb 1778. They had the following children all baptised at St Just Parish Church:-
Peter 26th Dec 1779
Charles 10th Apr 1781
Ann 9th June 1783
Mary 11th April 1804 (aged 15)
William 11th April 1804 (aged 18)
(Mary and William were baptised on the same day their father was buried)

The line continues with William. He married Elizabeth Casley in St Just on the 26th April 1807 and they had six children, all baptised at St Just:-

Josiah   28th Jan 1816
Edward    28th June 1818
Jane   4th Nov 1821 (married Richard Davey 1847)

Of these children:-
Elizabeth married Thomas Wallis in St Just in 1830.They had seven children,
Alfred Goninan, Thomas, Jane, Elizabeth, Annie and John (twice).
Alfred went to Australia and in 1865 married Grace Tonkin in Adelong in New South Wales.
Annie (known as Nanny) married James Addicott in St Just in 1863. They went to Australia in 1878.

William married Jane Williams at St Just Church on the 28th May 1831 and they had four surviving children - William, Alfred, Edward and Elizabeth Jane. The family were living in New Chapel Street at the time of the 1841 census.

Their son Alfred spent some time in Australia before returning home and marrying Rebecca Thomas in Sancreed Church on th 13th Jan 1863. Their children included Alfred (jnr) and Ralph who were to emigrate to Australia and founded the engineering firm of Alfred Goninan and Co in Newcastle, New South Wales. The Company was started in 1899 by Alfred and Ralph joined in 1901 on returning from the New Guinea goldfields.
