| Peter Goninan, grandson of Alfred Goninan, tells us, in his contribution to the booklet 'Goninans around the World', that his grandfather's firm (Alfred Goninan & Co) submitted a tender for the building of the bridge. Although not successful, the Company went on to supply 30% of the fabricated steel sections (this booklet, edited by John Beswick and with contributions by various family members, was published by the organising committee of the global family gathering held in Tasmania in 2005) |
